About the position

The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing technical demonstrations of laser cutting machines, showcasing their operation and features to potential customers. This role requires a deep understanding of laser technology and the ability to relate machine capabilities to specific customer applications. The engineer will also be tasked with addressing customer training needs and resolving any issues that arise during machine operation. This includes analyzing malfunctions and ensuring that the machines operate according to product specifications. The position plays a crucial role in the continuous improvement and development of Mazak technology and application knowledge, contributing to the overall success of the company in the laser cutting market.

Responsibilities

• Technically demonstrate machine operation to customers.
• Communicate salient machine features and relate them to customer applications.
• Respond to customer application and training needs.
• Resolve machine and customer issues effectively.
• Analyze machine/user malfunctions to ensure proper operation according to specifications.
• Assist in the continuous improvement and development of Mazak technology and application know-how.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of laser cutting machine experience.
• 5 years of Laser Application Engineer experience or Laser Operator experience with a strong sales aptitude.
• A minimum of a Technical Associates Degree in electronics, laser or electro/optical disciplines; a four-year Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to write reports and effective business correspondence.
• Prior use of CAD/CAM software for programming test and customer parts.
• Requires the ability to travel with a valid driver’s license and passport.
