About the position

The Application Engineer is responsible for managing the internal aspects of sales for assigned product lines at Electric Machinery Company. This role involves promoting a positive image of the company, ensuring order intake meets budgetary goals, and maintaining strong relationships with customers and the sales team. The engineer will also participate in market analysis, product presentations, and trade shows while ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure product line order intake meets or exceeds budget and aligns with company policies.
  • Enter new orders and conduct internal coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing operations to ensure timely and complete pricing and quotation requests.
  • Present product line information and new product ideas to the Sales Manager or Director of Business Development & Sales.
  • Participate in strategic market analysis and forecasting.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers and the external sales team.
  • Stay informed about industry pricing, policies, and trends.
  • Participate in designated trade shows.
  • Gather and maintain competitor product information and market data.
  • Lead product advocacy activities for timely completion of new product and cost improvement projects.
  • Generate and maintain product literature such as sell sheets and brochures.
  • Ensure ethical and professional standards are upheld in all responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and other departments to meet company quotas and goals.
  • Provide guidance to Field Sales Engineers and Sales Managers on sales strategies and customer negotiations.
  • Create data for order intake forecasts.
  • Review specifications and manage negotiations accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate meetings with customers and Accounts Receivable.
  • Understand customer needs and ensure clear communication of specifications, pricing, and delivery during negotiations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred or equivalent industry-specific experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical sales roles.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with current operating systems and business applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Understanding of Total Quality Management principles for process improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to motivate and lead teams.
  • Understanding of basic business-related problems.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide on short notice (10-15% travel).
  • Physical ability to navigate manufacturing and office environments safely.
