About the position

The Application Engineer role at Gates involves working closely with engineering customers to design and recommend fluid power products for various applications. This position is focused on providing engineering services, troubleshooting customer issues, and collaborating with sales and marketing teams to ensure successful product implementation. The role requires a hands-on approach and strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and effectively communicate technical information.

Responsibilities

  • Providing engineering service to customers and clients in the proper application and selection of fluid power products
  • Effectively presenting technical and product training material to internal and external customers
  • Working cooperatively with North American Field Sales, Product Line Managers, and the Marketing Team to achieve organizational success
  • Analyzing application requirements, providing failure analysis, selecting components, and making recommendations to meet system requirements
  • Troubleshooting any questions customers pose via phone, email, and in-person.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of progressive engineering experience OR 5-10 years of progressive engineering experience
  • Engineering discipline with a focus on Mechanical and Fluid Power systems, preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to travel to customers, plants and conferences as required (minimum 50%)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Power Transmission experience, also preferred
