About the position

The Application Engineer will play a crucial role in the Decatur site, focusing on re-establishing machining processes for a new brass foundry and a new alloy. This position involves programming, setting up, and running parts on lathes, as well as documenting new processes as part of a capability study. The role is high-pressure due to its visibility to the board of directors and the urgency of the project, which aims to increase the number of castings managed from 172 to about 1,000.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and run new parts on lathes.
• Complete documentation of new processes as part of a 30-piece capability study.
• Modify speeds, feeds, and depths due to the new alloy.
• Write and edit g-code and m-code for machine operations.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure effective process implementation.

Requirements

• Experience programming, setting up, and running parts on a lathe.
• Experience programming for production machine shop volume.
• Robotics/automation experience (x, y axis or 6 axis).
• Ability to work with metal.
