About the position

The Application Engineer at Trane Technologies will play a crucial role in supporting the MTA-USA sales team by developing and distributing equipment proposals. This position requires a deep understanding of customer application data to accurately size and accessorize MTA products using proprietary selection software. The ideal candidate will have a background in technical product selection, application design, and quoting, and will be responsible for ensuring that all proposals meet customer expectations in terms of responsiveness and accuracy. The role involves close communication with various stakeholders, including Regional Sales Managers, Account Managers, distributors, contractors, and end-users, to gather necessary information and develop tailored sales proposals. The successful candidate will be organized, task-oriented, and possess strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both internal and external customers. In addition to proposal development, the Application Engineer will provide pricing based on established methods and ensure proper follow-up with customer contacts to maximize the potential for winning sales. The role also includes maintaining accurate records of all proposals in the company's CRM system and providing guidance to the purchasing team for non-standard orders. This position is based in Amherst, NY, and is designated as on-site, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and direct communication within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with MTA-USA Regional Sales Managers, Trane Account Managers, Distributors, Contractors, and end-users to develop an understanding of each specific application.
  • Develop appropriate sales proposals based on data gathered from customers and/or the MTA-USA sales team.
  • Provide pricing based on established methods and commensurate with the sales channel.
  • Ensure proper follow-up with customer contacts and the MTA-USA sales team to maximize 'win' potential.
  • Match customer expectations regarding responsiveness and accuracy of data, including technical specifications, pricing, and product availability.
  • Provide guidance to the MTA-USA purchasing team to ensure that materials for non-standard orders are correct.
  • Keep accurate records of all proposals in CRM.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree with a business, technology or engineering emphasis is desired.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related sales experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver messages effectively to internal and external customers.
  • Good verbal reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all team members.
  • Computer proficiency utilizing Word, Outlook, CRM, and Excel.
  • Exhibits good time management skills and understands prioritizing and organizing information.
  • Ability to establish relationships independently and recognize the real needs of the customer.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish rapport with key customers.
