About the position

Eaton's North American Sales division is currently seeking an Application Engineer to join our team in Wilsonville, OR. This role focuses on electrical distribution products and presents a great opportunity to support a technical sales team in the Portland area. As an Application Engineer, you will play a crucial role in helping our consulting engineering community understand how to apply Eaton products across a wide array of projects, ranging from commercial construction to complex industrial end-user projects. The primary function of the Application Engineer is to achieve acceptability of Eaton's Electrical products in the marketplace while providing technical leadership and mentoring for sales engineers, OEMs, outside rep agencies, and both internal and external customers. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of Eaton products and service applications. Familiarity with competitive product offerings is essential, as you will need to position Eaton products effectively against competitors. Your responsibilities will include providing efficient and accurate pre-sale application and technical support by analyzing and recommending solutions to meet customer needs. You will manage daily phone and email activity, providing directions, solutions, and recommendations. Effective communication of product value propositions and product line strategies will be key. Additionally, you will review and provide feedback on product literature, assist with technical design, and conduct product seminars and training sessions for end users, consultants, and sales engineers. This role also involves calling on electrical engineers at consulting firms to assist with technical design and promote Eaton products.

Responsibilities

• Achieve acceptability of Eaton's Electrical products in the marketplace.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring for sales engineers, OEMs, and outside rep agencies.
• Lead the design, development, and validation of Eaton products and service applications.
• Provide efficient and accurate pre-sale application and technical support by analyzing and recommending solutions to meet customer needs.
• Manage daily phone and email activity while providing directions, solutions, and recommendations.
• Effectively communicate product value proposition and product line strategies.
• Review and provide feedback on product literature developed by the product line.
• Provide feedback to product marketing and engineering regarding technical documentation.
• Serve on special teams to enhance team performance and drive process improvement.
• Provide training to Technical Support Engineers.
• Call on electrical engineers at consulting firms to assist with technical design and promote Eaton products.
• Provide support on major projects including submittals drawings and interfacing with customers and project consultants.
• Conduct product seminars and training on Eaton products and solutions to end users, consultants, and sales engineers.
• Assist customers with design build opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five (5) years of electrical sales and/or electrical engineering experience.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) License.
