The Applications Engineer position is a vital role within a growing company located in Michigan City, Indiana. The Applications Engineer will be responsible for preparing customer quotations and providing essential sales support specifically for industrial automation customers. This role is primarily on-site, with an expected travel requirement of 10-20%. In this position, the Applications Engineer will act as the product expert, supporting the sales team during customer interactions, whether through emails, calls, or in-person visits. A key responsibility will be to analyze customer applications and recommend tailored solutions to their control system challenges, leveraging the company's product offerings and core competencies. The role will also involve meeting with customers to conduct site surveys of industrial automation control systems, which will help in understanding project opportunities and gathering necessary information to collaborate with project engineers and managers in developing effective solutions that meet customer requirements. The Applications Engineer will utilize their industry process knowledge and product application expertise to recommend optimal solutions for customers. Additionally, they will prepare system configuration drawings and commercial and technical proposals by studying system schematics, specifications, plans, and related customer documents, while consulting with engineers and other technical personnel. Presenting technical and commercial proposals to customers and following up with existing clients to foster new business relationships will also be crucial aspects of this role, as the engineer will support multiple locations as required.
