About the position

The Application Engineer at Gleason Corporation serves as a vital link between sales, customers, and the organization, focusing on technical activities related to Gleason Gear Technology. This role involves providing technical assistance, analyzing customer requirements, and ensuring that machines meet quality and production standards. The position emphasizes building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders while promoting Gleason's products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the direct contact between Sales, customers, and the Gleason organization to coordinate technical activities related to gear technology.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers regarding previous or future purchases and troubleshoot existing problems with machines and processes.
  • Analyze, define, document, and report customer requirements and expectations for machine programs.
  • Use Statistical Process Control to verify that machines purchased by customers meet their quality and production requirements.
  • Determine production analyses for potential machine sales by predicting cycle times and duty cycles based on customer needs.
  • Define tool configuration for required processes and verify new machine capabilities by testing or analyzing.
  • Serve as a liaison between the sales organization and customers for information on design, production, inspection, testing, and performance standards.
  • Perform promotional work by presenting new developments, machines, and processes.
  • Work closely with Sales, tooling engineers, shop personnel, project managers, and the machine proposal group to meet customer needs.
  • Develop and conduct presentations and training courses covering gear processes, machines, tools, and sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical discipline is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Gear Process Technology is a plus.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of bevel and cylindrical gear technology.
