About the position

The Application ETL Developer role focuses on designing, building, and implementing ETL/ELT jobs for data migration and analysis. This position requires expertise in SQL, data quality identification, and experience with various ETL tools. The developer will work within the State of Nebraska Department of OCIO to establish policies and standards while ensuring optimal performance and quality of ETL packages.

Responsibilities

• Write advanced SQL queries and perform query tuning.
• Identify data quality issues and implement solutions.
• Create ETL jobs using DataStage, Qlik, Talend, or MuleSoft for data migration.
• Utilize ad-hoc techniques for on-the-fly data analysis.
• Design, build, and implement effective ETL/ELT jobs in both scheduled batch and real-time environments.
• Implement stored procedures and query multiple databases securely.
• Identify and test for bugs and bottlenecks in ETL solutions.
• Ensure optimal performance and quality in ETL packages.
• Provide support and resolve issues in ETL packages.
• Author and execute unit test scripts.
• Develop and utilize APIs for data sharing and consumption.
• Work in a DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery environment.

Requirements

• Advanced SQL writing skills including query tuning.
• Experience in identifying data quality issues.
• Proficiency in creating ETL jobs using DataStage, Qlik, Talend, or MuleSoft.
• Ability to perform ad-hoc data analysis on structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting production Data Platform environments.
• Knowledge of developing effective ETL/ELT jobs in both batch and real-time settings.
• Experience with stored procedures and secure database querying.
• Ability to identify and test for bugs and bottlenecks in ETL solutions.
• Experience in providing support and fixing ETL package issues.
• Ability to author and execute unit test scripts.
• Experience with API development for data sharing and consumption.
• Knowledge of data infrastructure in both on-premise and cloud environments, preferably Azure or AWS.
• Experience working in DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery environments.
