About the position

The Application Programmer will be responsible for developing and maintaining applications within the Financial Crimes technology sector. This role involves collaborating with business partners to define system requirements, designing and coding applications, and ensuring adherence to best practices throughout the development lifecycle. The programmer will also contribute to data analysis and modeling, support production teams, and promote Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complex requirements and enhance existing applications in Financial Crimes technology.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document programs while supporting application maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with business partners to define system application requirements.
  • Utilize knowledge of business requirements and technology to recommend innovations.
  • Provide data perspective insights and assess impacts on technology systems.
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle of delivered capabilities.
  • Contribute to story refinement and define requirements.
  • Estimate work necessary to realize stories through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform proof of concept to mitigate risks or implement new ideas.
  • Setup and automate continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Work closely with Production Support teams, Platform teams, and Business Partners.
  • Handle technical aspects of the application including Change Management and Maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts and Developers to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Promote and apply best practices and standards at project and program levels.
  • Partner with the business to develop plans for sustaining changes and measuring success.
  • Analyze present-state and develop alternative future-state approaches for implementation.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, peers, and business partners regarding deliverables and timelines.
  • Follow Agile practices and ensure compliance with Enterprise Change Standards.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or any quantitative discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Teradata Developer.
  • Strong understanding of the Teradata platform with hands-on solution architecture experience.
  • Demonstrated data sourcing, analysis, and modeling skills for large-scale financial crimes initiatives.
  • Experience with Teradata 16.x, SQL/BTEQ scripting, TPT, Informatica 10.x, UNIX Shell scripting, Autosys, Cloudera CDP, Hadoop (Hive, Impala, PySpark, Scala).
  • Strong data sourcing, modeling, and provisioning skills for AML monitoring and surveillance data.
  • Experience in database-intensive development, data migrations, and conversions.
  • Knowledge of SQL performance tuning.
  • Experience in design/build and coordination of development in a distributed environment.
  • Good engagement skills with business stakeholders for requirement discovery.
  • Experience in SDLC, Agile, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD) using tools like Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Artifactory, Ansible.
  • Good knowledge of Unix and shell script development.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
