About the position

The Application QA Analyst at Portland General Electric (PGE) is responsible for conducting quality assurance tests and analyses to ensure software meets specified standards and user requirements. This role involves drafting test plans, creating test data, coordinating user acceptance testing, and documenting test results. The analyst will work independently while collaborating with users and stakeholders to enhance software quality and usability, contributing to PGE's mission of advancing clean energy solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a wide range of quality assurance tests to ensure software meets specified standards.
• Draft and revise test plans and scripts to align with IT strategy.
• Create test data files with valid and invalid records to test program logic.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing, including alpha and beta testing.
• Document test results and ensure all problems are resolved.
• Review requirements and specifications to define test conditions.
• Design test cases and scripts, mapping back to predetermined criteria.
• Analyze and report test activities and results, identifying issues and risks.
• Specify and develop test scenarios for new or updated processes.
• Engage with users to define relevant characteristics and describe user goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, management, or related field.
• Two or more years of experience in IT, preferably in testing and automation.
• Working knowledge of testing tools, techniques, and standards.
• Experience with SQL queries and back-end testing.
• Ability to analyze and report test activities and results.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automation tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of business process tests and usability evaluations.
• Familiarity with object-oriented and service-oriented design.
