About the position

The Application Sales Engineer - Piezo Technology at PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is responsible for driving sales growth within the OEM, Industrial, MedTech, and Research sectors on the West Coast. This role involves developing a deep understanding of the company's product portfolio, providing creative solutions to customers, and managing technical sales processes to meet revenue targets. The position is based in Irvine, CA, and requires collaboration with customers to integrate PI products into their applications, as well as participation in team meetings and marketing events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the PI product portfolio to offer creative solutions to customers.
  • Achieve sales order and funnel growth within assigned accounts/territory.
  • Follow-up on leads, answer technical questions, and assist customers in designing PI products into their instrumentation applications.
  • Prepare and follow-up on quotations and offers, coordinating technical responses to requests-for-quotes (RFQ).
  • Track and drive the qualification and development of customer leads and opportunities through CRM tools.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, weekly trainings, and marketing events such as trade shows and seminars.
  • Identify and validate opportunities that fit into PI's core competencies and budget requirements.

Requirements

  • BS, MEng or MS degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Material Science, or Mechatronic.
  • 3-5 years of Technical Sales experience with defined territory management and revenue target achievement.
  • Experience with electrical components & sensors or ceramic component sales, preferably with piezo products.
  • Ideally have experience with ultrasonic and/or acoustic transducers, medical sensors, NDT, and piezo actuator technology.
  • Understanding of piezo technology for industrial and medical markets, including Ultrasonics and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Exceptional curiosity and willingness to learn about the product line and offerings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Dynamics or experience with CRM for sales data reporting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ultrasonic, industrial, or medical sensors, NDT, motion control, electronic component management, ceramic component delivery, or transducer design instrumentation.
