About the position

The Application Sales Engineer (ASE) at Messer North America, Inc. is responsible for selling technology-based gas applications in collaboration with Account Managers. This role involves evaluating prospects, designing technical solutions, writing proposals, and leading process change management. The ASE plays a crucial role in facilitating the closing of new business and renewals, while also supporting the growth of existing business.

Responsibilities

  • Create, grow, and maintain sales of industrial gas products and technical solutions to new and existing customers in food industries.
  • Act as the technical expert to differentiate Messer from competitors and drive profitable sales using the Messer Pro sales process.
  • Understand prospect/customer needs and apply creativity and innovation to offer value-added solutions.
  • Support sales and market segment personnel in opportunity qualification, technical solution design, and proposal development.
  • Maintain the existing customer base through technical expertise and relationship selling.
  • Obtain insights regarding industry trends and opportunities for new application technologies.
  • Build relationships with multiple functions in prospect/customer organizations.
  • Develop an industry network to enhance Messer's prioritization and performance.
  • Design applications equipment/technical solutions for the target industry in collaboration with Applications Equipment Engineering.
  • Conduct customer process audits and safety training to ensure successful value creation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Materials or Mechanical).
  • Two years of experience applying or designing and selling technical solutions in a manufacturing environment.
