About the position

The Application Sales Engineer at PI (Physik Instrumente), LP is responsible for driving sales growth on the East Coast by developing a deep understanding of the company's high precision positioning systems. This role involves engaging with customers to provide tailored solutions, managing sales orders, and collaborating with internal teams to respond to technical inquiries and requests for quotes. The position requires a proactive approach to customer relationship management and participation in marketing events to promote the product portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strong understanding of the PI product portfolio to offer creative solutions to customers.
• Achieve sales order and funnel growth within assigned accounts/territory.
• Follow-up on leads, answer technical questions, and assist customers in designing PI products into their instrumentation applications.
• Prepare and follow-up on quotations and offers, coordinating technical responses to requests-for-quotes (RFQ).
• Track and drive the qualification and development of customer leads and opportunities through a CRM tool.
• Actively participate in team meetings, weekly trainings, and marketing events such as trade shows and seminars.

Requirements

• BS, MEng or MS degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or Physics is required.
• 2-5 years of Technical Sales achievement or sales support experience.
• Exceptional curiosity and willingness to learn about the product line and offerings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with instrumentation, semiconductor, beam lines, microscopy, or similar fields preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Dynamics or experience with a CRM for sales data reporting.
• Understanding of motion control, piezo-technology, photonics, or instrumentation is desirable.
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

• Experience in high-tech fields such as semiconductor, photonics, biomedical, aerospace, astronomy, metrology, scientific instrumentation, and scientific research.
