About the position

The Application Security Engineer at Snap Inc. is responsible for conducting security reviews of applications and services, developing solutions to address security weaknesses, and building systems to prevent vulnerabilities. This role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders and champions security and user privacy within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth security reviews of applications, back-end services, and business integrations.
• Build tooling for a secure development lifecycle.
• Develop technical solutions to address security weaknesses and work with relevant stakeholders to implement them.
• Build systems at scale to prevent classes of vulnerabilities.
• Assist with security incident response as needed.
• Be a champion for security and user privacy.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field.
• 1+ year of experience in the field of Application Security or related security role.
• Proven impact in one or more of the following Appsec domains: Application Security Testing (SAST, DAST), Vulnerability Assessment, Secure Coding Practices, Security Architecture Design.
• Proficiency in application security (security assessments, finding and mitigating vulnerabilities) and driving the implementation of preventative controls in partnership with product teams.
• Strong software engineering skills in Golang, Java or similar.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Solid foundation in web security, mobile security, or cryptography.
• Demonstrated proficiency in software development.
