About the position

Flexport is seeking an Application Security Engineer to enhance the security posture of its global trade technology. This role involves developing and implementing application security services, collaborating with product teams, and driving security innovation within the organization. The engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of customer data and the integrity of Flexport's products through various security measures and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and support application security services for product teams.
  • Build tools, processes, and solutions to improve product and data security.
  • Evangelize security practices within the software engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to address systemic security issues.
  • Lead application security innovation and provide technical direction for securing applications.
  • Integrate secure development standards and processes into the development lifecycle.
  • Produce application security metrics to demonstrate improvement in security posture.
  • Conduct application design reviews and create compensating security solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop security strategies and features.
  • Support penetration testing and bug bounty programs.
  • Drive remediation efforts and mature the vulnerability management program.
  • Participate in security on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of application security experience in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellence in problem-solving and strategic thinking.
  • Experience securing CI/CD pipelines with strong security controls.
  • Experience performing code audits on internal and open source libraries.
  • Experience with DAST, SAST, and manual testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with IaaS cloud infrastructure and container technologies.
  • Experience building security tools in languages such as Go, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Experience managing bug bounty and penetration testing programs.
