About the position

As an Application Security Engineer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the company's digital assets by implementing and maintaining security protocols. This position is essential for protecting applications from potential threats and vulnerabilities, requiring collaboration with development and operations teams in a fast-paced tech services environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain application security strategies and solutions based on OWASP and other industry standards.
  • Perform regular security assessments, code reviews, and vulnerability testing to identify potential threats and ensure the robustness of our applications.
  • Design and develop security architecture for our cloud-based solutions and applications.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure the integration of security measures in the coding and development process.
  • Advise on data privacy best practices and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Respond to and mitigate security incidents in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop and deliver security training and awareness programs to our staff.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, threats, and vulnerabilities to ensure our applications are always a step ahead in terms of security.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in application security, preferably in the tech services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OWASP security standards and other industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in security coding techniques and secure software development.
  • Extensive experience with cloud solutions and architectures, preferably AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and standards such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.
  • Strong understanding of various security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, etc.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH would be a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders and explain complex security concepts in simple terms.
