About the position
As an Application Security Engineer at Notion, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and privacy of our products used by millions of users worldwide. Your primary responsibility will be to build and maintain solutions that enhance security, create hardened frameworks, and provide guidance to product teams to eliminate vulnerabilities. You will be an early member of the Security Assurance team, contributing significantly to the direction and goals of the security program.
Responsibilities
- Define the direction and goals of the security assurance program.
- Provide design guidance to product teams to make secure paths the easiest option.
- Create static and dynamic analysis rules to detect weaknesses in the codebase.
- Educate developers on security and privacy best practices to prevent vulnerabilities.
- Participate in and drive mitigation strategies during security-related incident responses.
Requirements
- At least 3+ years of experience in security architecture and building secure software.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to decompose complex problems.
- Experience advocating for and leading cross-functional security projects.
- Business-oriented mindset with the ability to balance security investments with business outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical ideas clearly and engage in thoughtful discussions.

- Participation in bug bounty programs or capture the flag events.
- Published reports of vulnerabilities found.
- Involvement in local or regional security user groups or conferences.
