About the position
The Application Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the security and resilience of web applications by advising on secure design principles, addressing security issues, and promoting a culture of security awareness across development teams. This role involves validating, tracking, and prioritizing security issues, developing internal security tools, and participating in security incident response, while also contributing to security compliance efforts and evaluating new security technologies.
Responsibilities
- Define, plan, and oversee security initiatives and processes.
- Lead, motivate, and inspire the Engineering Organization towards the SecOps vision.
- Triage security issues and allocate them to the appropriate functions.
- Build and manage tooling to improve security processes.
- Implement security fixes on both infrastructure and applications.
- Build strong relationships with Product and Engineering leaders.
- Promote security awareness and integrate SecOps into the organizational culture.
- Collaborate with peers to creatively solve problems and drive department-wide objectives.
- Support internal and external security audits, penetration testing, and certification processes.
- Stay updated on current software development technologies and security controls.
Requirements
- Experience in application security, including threat modeling and security architecture.
- Proficiency in conducting security code reviews and penetration testing.
- Strong understanding of secure software development practices.
- Ability to mentor developers on security best practices.
- Experience with security tools and automation for ongoing testing.
