About the position

The Application Services Engineer 1 position involves hands-on work with diesel electric locomotives, focusing on troubleshooting, repairs, and field modifications to ensure high customer satisfaction and reliability during the warranty period. The role requires collaboration with customers on-site and offers training in electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning and Warranty of locomotives and/or coaches.
  • Troubleshooting and analysis of failures on locomotives or coaches.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs using mechanical drawings, schematics, and circuit plans.
  • Use laptops with subsystem software to troubleshoot various systems onboard the locomotives.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions in locomotive or coach control circuits, assess problems, and identify corrective actions needed.
  • Read, interpret, and understand written or electronic information to identify the root cause of failures and compile reports for the site lead and warranty manager.
  • Understand and follow company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures.
  • Implement Field Modifications (FMI's) to improve product quality.
  • Document failures, part exchanges, FMI implementations, and performed work in the Commissioning and Warranty database.
  • Communicate technical information, job procedure recommendations, and improvements to the site lead and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Receive and send out failed parts for repair (RMA).
  • Work with shop machines and hand tools.
  • Engage in full hands-on work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or GED)
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Valid Driver's license in good standing
