About the position
The Application Support Analyst plays a crucial role in a high-pressure trading environment, focusing on problem-solving and technical support. This position requires strong partnerships with global teams and a deep understanding of financial systems and processes. The analyst is expected to independently develop expertise and prioritize multiple concurrent issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- First point of contact for business requests and reported impact.
- Monitoring and alerting of critical trading system environments.
- Release implementation and post-release testing.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with business stakeholders, application development personnel, and infrastructure contacts.
- Troubleshooting of complex systems issues.
- Proactive identification and resolution of problem hotspots.
- Development of tools and driving efficiency/stability improvements.
- Accurate tracking of support effort to enable effective management reporting.
- Enforcement of change management policy.
Requirements
- 1 year of UNIX experience.
- 1 year of SQL experience.
- Strong understanding of operating systems: Solaris, Linux, Windows.
- Proficiency in scripting languages: Unix Shell, Perl, Python.
- Intermediate SQL skills, including multi-table joins and grouping results.
Nice-to-haves
- Trading experience / Capital markets experience.
- Product knowledge in Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities, Credit, Mortgage-backed Securities, Interest Rate Derivatives.
