About the position

The Apps Support Engineer at Citi plays a crucial role in managing professional teams and applications, ensuring the integration of technology functions to meet business goals. This position requires a deep understanding of application support principles and the ability to influence strategic decisions through expert advice and counsel. The role involves incident management, problem resolution, change governance, and ensuring service health and readiness, all while maintaining compliance with regulations and safeguarding the firm's reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with multiple technology teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals.
  • Identify and define necessary system enhancements; analyze existing system logic, identify problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Formulate and define systems scope and objectives for complex application enhancements and problem resolution.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Systems Analysts to determine and document systems impacts and support requirements.
  • Identify risks, vulnerabilities, and security issues; communicate impact and propose risk mitigation options.
  • Act as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts; allocate work accordingly.
  • Perform end-to-end ownership of incidents to reduce mean time to repair and assess business impact.
  • Create and lead service improvement plans for recurring failures and coordinate with stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Review service and business recovery plans and lead disaster recovery tests.
  • Perform service readiness assessments for all production releases and identify service risks.

Requirements

  • 6 - 8 years of strong application production support or engineering development experience in the financial industry.
  • 4 - 5 years of experience with Linux.
  • Good SQL experience in any RDBMS, with a focus on Oracle/MSSQL, Hive.
  • Experience with schedulers like Autosys or CONTROL-M is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as PowerShell, UNIX shell scripting, Python, and Java is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Hadoop/Big Data technologies under Cloudera distribution, including HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, YARN, Sentry, Oozie, and Kafka.
  • Experience supporting applications on Snowflake is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of observability tools and end-to-end monitoring instrumentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of ITRS Active Console or other monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Autosys/scheduler.
