About the position

BAE Systems is currently seeking an Application Support Engineer to join our integrated Operations & Sustainment (O&S) team providing critical 24x7 mission support to our customer. This role will involve interfacing with engineering resources located at other facilities and requires strong experience with LINUX operating systems. The Application Support Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the customer application, including monitoring and investigating segment interfaces. Under the direction of the O&S Site Lead, the engineer will work closely with on-site database and system administration support personnel to convey and investigate system anomalies. This position is crucial for investigating operational issues and performing problem escalation with vendors, factory, and on-site & east coast based Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as required. The Application Support Engineer will provide rotating site support (7x24) on a Panama schedule to ensure that system issues are identified and resolved promptly, minimizing operational impacts. Shift work is required, and the engineer must be willing to work in a 24x7 operational environment, which includes both day and night shifts. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and performance of the systems that support our critical missions.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7 mission support to the customer as part of the Operations & Sustainment team.
• Monitor and investigate segment interfaces of the customer application.
• Work with on-site database and system administration support personnel to address system anomalies.
• Investigate operational issues and escalate problems to vendors and SMEs as necessary.
• Provide rotating site support on a Panama schedule to ensure timely resolution of system issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience.
• Hold a Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
• Previous experience with LINUX based operating systems.
• Previous System Administrator experience.
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 operational environment on Day shift or Night shift.

Nice-to-haves

• 4-8 years experience in a systems administration or operational support role.
• Security + Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Working knowledge of networks and network infrastructure.
• Understanding of SQL query language principles.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and be self-motivated.
