About the position

The Application Support Engineer at CIBC is responsible for the support and maintenance of the bank's on-prem, hosted, and cloud applications. This role involves delivering application migrations to cloud or colocation environments, ensuring technical and business requirements are met. The engineer will work closely with various technology teams to execute projects, troubleshoot issues, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the migration of applications to cloud or colocation environments.
  • Provide technical guidance on the business implications of technology projects.
  • Modify, enhance, and create solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Analyze proposed application designs and provide feedback on potential gaps.
  • Review, plan, test, and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot issues and resolve incidents using Incident and Problem Management processes.
  • Participate in Major Incidents and Disaster Recovery events.
  • Lead technical research, design, configuration, testing, and integration of application systems.
  • Perform application changes utilizing the change management process.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and information security standards in application management.
  • Plan and implement certificate creation and renewals as needed.
  • Review system patches and updates to ensure minimal impact on systems.
  • Test solutions prior to production deployment.
  • Build strong relationships with technical team members, clients, vendors, and peers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an application support role.
  • 1 to 3 years of business experience in banking.
  • Experience with ITIL Change, Incident, and Problem management processes.
  • Ability to coordinate production support needs and document deficiencies and application flow diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with public cloud services such as Azure.
  • Understanding of Privileged Access Management and Privileged Identity Management concepts.
  • General understanding of networking concepts.
