We're seeking a future team member for the role of Application Support Engineer to join our Production Support team. This role is in Pittsburgh, PA - HYBRID. In this role, you'll make an impact by ensuring operational stability of the platforms in the production environment, bringing new automation procedures to improve the velocity and quality of engineering efforts, and managing configuration management tools. You will also be responsible for software builds and release management, translating development team requirements into application/system configuration, and managing defects while participating in the software change control board. As a Support Engineer, you will utilize your systems and networking knowledge to isolate and fix application problems, continuously manage performance, and work closely with internal stakeholders, development architects/managers, and developers across locations to ensure timely delivery. You will build quality frameworks to provide feedback loops to developers for easier and improved contributions, and manage vulnerabilities including patching systems and implementing security controls.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational stability of the Platforms in the production environment.
  • Bring new automation procedures to improve the velocity and quality of engineering efforts.
  • Administration and management of configuration management tools.
  • Software builds and release management; script/automation of build process, creation of beta and formal versions of the application.
  • Translation of development team requirements into Application/System configuration.
  • Software configuration management; managing defects, participating in software change control board.
  • Using Systems and Networking knowledge to isolate and fix application problems.
  • Continuous Performance Management. Measuring performance and working with developers and QAs to improve it.
  • Working closely with Internal Stakeholders, Development Architects/Managers & developers, across locations, to ensure timely delivery.
  • Build quality frameworks to provide feedback loop to developers to easy and improved contribution.
  • Vulnerability management including patching systems and implementing security controls.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of diverse experience in information technology required.
  • Exclusively worked UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Database knowledge with strong SQL skills like Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in scripting or programming languages like Python, Perl, Shell scripting, etc.
  • Experience understanding/analyzing securities data, handling market vendor pricing feeds, working in time-sensitive projects is highly desired.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab.
  • Experience working with IBM MQ, ETL tools like Pentaho, Snowflake are preferred.
  • Monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Prometheus, Splunk, Cloud Probes & Moog or equivalent.
  • Experience automating deployments and other repetitive tasks.
  • Experience with support activities like platform administration, deployments, upgrades, and understands & troubleshoots issues when incidents are reported in the platform.
  • Experience in external and internal cloud.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Proficiency in using JIRA, Confluence.
  • Experience in vulnerabilities management.
  • Ability to produce system documentation including operational specifications, test plans, system architecture with attention to detail.
