Allegheny Science & Technology is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join our development team, dedicated to maintaining and enhancing a web-based program/project management application. This position involves close collaboration with Senior Project Engineers, Program Analysts, and the Development Team to ensure the application's operational integrity and support key programmatic functions. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The Application Support Engineer will assist Senior Project Engineers in managing the effective use and operation of the program/project management application. This includes overseeing change control processes, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with software security protocols. The role requires working closely with the development team on gathering, prioritizing, and finalizing application requirements. The engineer will contribute to the creation and execution of test scripts, perform quality assurance and control, and validate system enhancements to ensure they meet the desired outcomes. As a liaison between Program Analysts, users, and the development team, the Application Support Engineer will capture and communicate system requirements and issues to facilitate necessary modifications, address problems, and meet customer requests. Ongoing support to Program Analysts will be provided, offering troubleshooting assistance and answering system-related questions. Regular reviews of system performance, user accounts, and deliverables will be conducted to ensure accuracy and functionality, along with the preparation of monthly system metrics and status reports. The engineer will support the preparation and setup of new programs, including creating templates and checklists, and ensuring that all planning activities are addressed. Monitoring and managing security activities related to the PICS system will be part of the role, including assisting with the formal review of user accounts and system security measures twice a year. The Application Support Engineer will also field help desk requests, ensuring that issues are resolved promptly and that the appropriate Program Analyst is notified. Additionally, the engineer will work with customers and analysts to gather and prioritize new requirements, assess feasibility, and identify risks associated with proposed changes. Contributing to the development of policies, standards, processes, and workflows that align with DOE policies and Cyber Security regulations is essential. The engineer will ensure that software asset management practices are followed throughout all stages of the software lifecycle and contribute to the development of system documentation, user guides, and training materials to support users in understanding and utilizing the application effectively.
