About the position

The Application Support role at Barclays involves performing technical operational tasks to monitor and maintain the bank's critical technology infrastructure. The position focuses on troubleshooting issues, coordinating with development teams, and ensuring minimal disruption to operations while resolving complex technical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical operational tasks within OLA on a routine basis.
  • Troubleshoot issues reported by users and self-detected issues within SLA.
  • Resolve newly occurred issues and conduct data investigations.
  • Coordinate with Level 3 and Development teams to resolve issues in the PROD environment.
  • Provide feedback and a plan to Development team and application owners.
  • Plan and coordinate release knowledge sharing, migrations, and disaster recovery.
  • Develop support scripts and simplify issue investigation scripts.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software.
  • Utilize monitoring tools/metrics to identify and address potential issues.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of resolved cases for future reference and self-service opportunities.
  • Analyze system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify root causes of issues.
  • Implement automation and monitoring enhancements to maintain stability and drive efficiency.
  • Identify and remediate potential service impacting risks and issues.

Requirements

  • Experience in technical support and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Ability to analyze system logs and error messages to identify root causes.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and metrics.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex information effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of business continuity management practices.
