About the position

The Applications Administrator position at Minnesota IT Services involves maintaining and supporting criminal justice information systems software, including both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-developed applications. The role is critical in ensuring the successful operation of these systems, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with partner agencies and vendors for system integrations. This position allows for telework flexibility after the probation period and is part of a team that supports law enforcement and public safety agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support criminal justice information systems software.
  • Monitor system availability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot incidents and problems related to system performance and user issues.
  • Make configuration changes to systems related to user role changes, business rules, or workflow changes.
  • Work with partner agencies and vendors to onboard new integrations and users of systems and services.
  • Support a sub-group of MNJIS applications and serve as a backup for other application support team members.
  • Coordinate with business product managers and vendor support staff to plan and deploy updates and new releases.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of IT experience supporting and monitoring enterprise software applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving user issues and system performance.
  • Proficiency in using monitoring tools such as Microsoft SCOM, Qflex, SolarWinds, or Splunk.
  • Ability to analyze SQL queries and support database connections using ODBC or JDBC.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer service skills including active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of web services and service-oriented architecture.
  • Experience with transaction workflows.
  • Familiarity with HTML, XML schemas, XSL transforms, SOAP, WDSL, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C# and Java.
  • Familiarity with MarkLogic and IBM WebSphere message queue.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice information systems and terminology.
