About the position

The Applications Analyst 2 position at the City of Detroit involves planning, designing, configuring, developing, and implementing new applications and enhancements while supporting existing applications. Responsibilities

• Meet with customers to define business requirements and application goals.
• Review and analyze the effectiveness of existing applications and develop improvement strategies.
• Assist in the deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
• Perform application design, configuration, and integration.
• Develop and maintain programs in common programming languages, including stored procedures and web services.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses for applications to aid management decisions.
• Coordinate and perform tests for existing and new applications, including user acceptance tests.
• Provide training to end users.
• Identify potential risks and dependencies between applications and provide solutions.
• Develop application prototypes and mockups for user group presentations.
• Plan, design, and implement upgrades or retirement of applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Three to five years of related work experience or a combination of experience and education.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License.
• Ability to work irregular hours and respond to after-hour emergencies.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of SQL and API preferred for Applications Analyst-Integration.
