About the position

The Applications Analyst III at Hackensack Meridian Health plays a crucial role in gathering business requirements, conducting needs assessments, and developing functional specifications to ensure that IT solutions align with business objectives. This position operates with minimal supervision and serves as a resource for junior analysts, contributing to the overall mission of transforming healthcare and supporting team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Gather business requirements and conduct needs assessments.
  • Develop functional specifications and build IT solutions.
  • Mentor lower level Application Analysts and share knowledge effectively.
  • Install and upgrade applications, configure settings, and validate work performed by junior analysts.
  • Assist in coordinating end user support activities.
  • Participate in and contribute to meetings across the facility.
  • Coordinate and run meetings within the IT department.
  • Provide go-live support for new applications and modules.
  • Analyze necessary application modifications and coordinate with IT associates and vendors.
  • Evaluate operational workflows and create system specifications from user requirements.
  • Create test plans and conduct testing for new systems and modifications.
  • Document outcomes of testing and review junior analysts' test plans for consistency.
  • Handle complex issues and refer the most complex to higher-level staff.
  • Update system and operational documentation and recommend process improvements.
  • Provide on-call support for applications and input into policy redesign.
  • Function as a preceptor for new staff and perform related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of IT experience in healthcare or related field, or 2 years of IT experience and 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of subject matter and ability to work independently.
  • Strong desktop skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear documentation.
  • Demonstrated self-direction and time management.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Beacon certification preferred.
