The Applications Developer 4 position at Case Western Reserve University is designed for an experienced IT professional who will work under general direction to design flexible application frameworks. The role involves analyzing and improving the performance of software programs, as well as analyzing requirements for data exchanges between application software and other CWRU systems. The successful candidate will determine viable alternatives, make recommendations, and design, specify, obtain consensus, and implement solutions. This position supports the university’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, with a specialization in the PeopleSoft Financials/Supply Chain Management System and the Oracle Budget System. The Applications Developer will be accountable for the full life cycle of application development, ensuring that all aspects of the project run smoothly and that management is continually informed of project status. In this role, the developer will participate in the development of best practices for the software development life cycle and software quality standards. They will design and deliver high-quality, high-impact systems solutions, define and scope projects for application solutions, and follow project management standards. The developer will work closely with staff to ensure adherence to programming standards during analysis, documentation, and testing. They will also serve as a resource to consultants and customers, solve problems with application software, and analyze and develop modifications to existing software programs. The position requires keeping current on day-to-day issues related to the PeopleSoft Financials/Supply Chain Management System and the Oracle Budget System, ensuring that agreed-upon service levels are met. Additionally, the Applications Developer will provide technical support for software applications, including analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex problems. They will participate in software architecture and system-level design, establish project plans and schedules, and review project deliverables for conformance to established standards. The role may also involve leading and coordinating software customization projects, applying application images and patches, installing software, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting alerts as needed. The position is expected to maintain confidentiality regarding university data and to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including external vendors and peer institutions.
