About the position

American Kraft Paper Industries is seeking a dedicated Applications Developer to join their team. This full-time position involves designing, developing, and modifying software applications to meet project specifications and performance requirements. The role requires collaboration with engineers and other developers, as well as training users on new or modified applications.

Responsibilities

• Collect information on project specifications, performance requirements, and known capabilities and limitations.
• Determine hardware system status and limitations by gathering and evaluating information on various factors including security and reporting needs.
• Review and modify existing software to improve performance, correct errors, and ensure compatibility with available hardware.
• Determine feasibility of proposed application modifications or designs, ensuring user needs and requirements are met within time and cost constraints.
• Design applications and systems to meet project requirements, collaborating with engineers and other developers as needed.
• Develop and lead software system testing and validation procedures; compile relevant documentation.
• Train users on new or modified applications or provide training documentation.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to write computer programs for various purposes.
• Ability to analyze and address needs of users.
• Thorough understanding of computer engineering principles and procedures.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
• Microsoft SQL and SharePoint skills are required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Honeywell Optivision and Microsoft Great Plains is a plus.
• Understanding of fundamental accounting principles is a plus.
