About the position

The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State is seeking a skilled PHP Developer (Applications Developer - Intermediate Professional) to enhance teaching and learning through innovative technological solutions. This role involves collaboration with faculty and learning designers to develop database-driven applications and interactive educational tools, primarily using technologies such as Laravel, VueJS, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Consult with faculty and learning designers to identify and implement technology-based solutions for teaching concepts.
• Design, develop, document, and test new and existing software applications.
• Develop and maintain database-driven websites and interactive tools.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure quality assurance.
• Provide technical support and expertise as needed.

Requirements

• Associate Degree or higher in a related field.
• Two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Drupal (including module and theme creation).
• Familiarity with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI).
• Knowledge of higher education information systems.
