About the position

As an Applications Development Engineer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a crucial role in developing automated solutions for semiconductor customers, enhancing their ability to make critical process decisions. This position involves working with advanced microscopy workflows and automation software, contributing to significant advancements in semiconductor technology.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize/develop new applications to automate Thermo Fisher wafer dual beam microscope functionality for semiconductor customers.
  • Automate applications using tools such as AutoTEM/iFast/Python/Machine Learning.
  • Conduct customer training and communicate customer needs to product development groups.
  • Act as a customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, understand customer workflow needs, and assist them in applications development.
  • Provide customer support and applications training after instrument installation.
  • Support product groups on system performance, features, and potential problems while collaborating with marketing/development groups on future product developments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical engineering, engineering, sciences, or related field.
  • 1-2 years in a semiconductor process and/or equipment environment.
  • Hands-on experience with DualBeam, FIB, SEM, or similar semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in a research environment using small and/or wafer DualBeam technology.
  • Knowledge of technology diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques, operational optimization, and experience with analytical equipment, specifically electron/ion microscopes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using Machine Learning to build predictive models of features within a set of images is desirable.
  • Clear interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, targeted for a diverse audience.
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills.
  • Ability to work well with multi-functional and cross-cultural teams.
