About the position

The Applications Development Engineer position at KLA focuses on optical inspection within the Broadband Plasma Division (BBP). This role is pivotal in enabling growth by providing market-leading patterned wafer optical inspection systems essential for advanced integrated circuit (IC) manufacturing. The successful candidate will work closely with logic, foundry, and memory customers who rely on BBP products to identify yield-critical defects, facilitating process debugging and excursion monitoring at advanced process nodes. In this role, the engineer will develop a deep understanding of product operations, applications, and customer processes. This includes collaborating with key customers to ensure that KLA products are effectively adopted and tailored to address their specific challenges. The engineer will also engage in pre-sale activities, which encompass product demonstrations, presentations, and the creation of technical documentation, as well as participation in trade shows. Post-sale responsibilities will involve customer training, ongoing support, and the development of new use cases based on customer feedback and requirements. Additionally, the engineer will provide support to internal teams, including service, engineering, and operations, ensuring that customer needs are met and aligned with product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-depth expertise in product operation, applications, and customer processes.
  • Collaborate with critical customers to ensure KLA products are adopted and applied to their unique problems.
  • Support pre-sale activities including product demos, presentations, and technical paper development.
  • Participate in trade shows to showcase KLA products.
  • Provide post-sale support including customer training and understanding customer processes.
  • Develop new use cases based on customer feedback and requirements.
  • Support internal customers such as service, engineering, and operations.

Requirements

  • Master's Level Degree OR Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or related field.
  • Background in IC processing OR Semiconductor equipment is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Ability to perform complex data/image analysis using data-analysis tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a balance between technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with optical inspection systems.
