About the position

As an Applications Engineer specializing in Fire & Gas Systems at Draeger, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in leading the detailed design of complex fire, flame, and gas detection system projects across various industrial markets, including Oil & Gas, Chem/Petrochem, and Clean Energy, primarily within the USA and Canada. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire project lifecycle, from bidding and designing to executing and closing projects, all while adhering to strict cost, time, and quality constraints and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. In this role, you will provide essential technical support and maintain continuity with Dräger's manufacturing representatives, regional sales teams, business development teams, and end users regarding the design of fire and gas detection systems. Staying current with industry codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, FM 3010, UL864, ISA 60079-29, and ISA 84 will be crucial to your success. You will be responsible for interpreting construction documents and technical specifications to design and bid fire and gas system projects, utilizing various detection and annunciation devices, integrated fire and suppression release panels, and safety controllers. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing effective bid packages that may require both prescriptive and performance-based approaches. This includes creating system layout drawings, fire and gas system layout drawings, and conducting 3D mapping studies, along with other engineering documentation required by codes such as NFPA 72. You will also present and advise EPCs, integrators, and end users on fire and gas detection strategies, system design considerations, proposed solutions, and compliance recommendations. Additionally, you will be expected to remain informed about related safety regulations and policies concerning the Dräger products being sold, operating in accordance with established company policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making this a dynamic and engaging position within the company.
