About the position

The Applications Engineer for Fire & Gas Systems at Draeger, Inc. is responsible for leading the detailed design of complex fire, flame, and gas detection system projects across various industrial markets in the USA and Canada. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle from bidding to execution, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, and providing technical support to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of fire, flame, and gas detection system projects.
• Manage bidding, designing, executing, and closing projects within cost, time, and quality constraints.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing reps, sales teams, and end users regarding system designs.
• Interpret construction documents and technical specifications for project design and bidding.
• Develop bid packages including system layout drawings and engineering documentation.
• Present and advise on fire and gas detection strategies to EPCs, integrators, and end users.
• Stay current with safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• 4-year degree in electrical, mechanical, fire protection, or chemical engineering.
• 3-5+ years of system engineering design or technical sales support experience in the fire and gas detection industry.
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 72, FM 3010, UL864, and ISA 84.
• Ability to read and understand customer documents for system design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software for design work.
• Familiarity with fire, flame, and gas detection products and systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of Navisworks 3D Software and Flame and Gas 3D Mapping software.
• Familiarity with gas sampling/aspiration systems and hazardous area classifications.
• PE license in Fire Protection (TX, LA, CA, or others).
