The Applications Engineer General position at Altair in Allen Park, MI, is a contract role focused on software validation and issue resolution within automotive technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for triaging and resolving issues in the AIM system, ensuring that all issues are processed with the highest quality standards. This includes making closure statements in JIRA and AIMS when issues are resolved, conducting basic log analysis of incoming issues, and leading cross-functional meetings to facilitate AIM resolution. The role also involves supporting audits related to R202, PVP, and FCPA, as well as validating feature functionality with new software releases to close out pending AIMS issues. In addition to these responsibilities, the Applications Engineer will provide support for SYNC and Phoenix software updates at Voice Of Customer (VoCF) locations, ensuring that devices are up-to-date with the necessary profiles to collect logs related to projection issues such as CarPlay and Android Auto. Frequent visits to VoCF sites will be required to collect SYNC and CAN logs after reproducing issues, and the engineer will need to communicate any issues that require special attention to the VoCF team, providing detailed information on the issues, replication steps, and required data. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with acceptable fields including Electrical, Computer Science, Software Development, or Mechanical Engineering. A minimum of five years of experience in Release Engineering or a related field is required, along with a strong comfort level working in a fast-paced environment with global teams. Proficiency in engineering tools such as AIMS, JIRA, VSEM, and VSCS is essential, as is experience with automotive networks and technologies. The role demands excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong project management abilities, and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Periodic travel to various plants across North America will be necessary to support launches.
