About The Position

We are continuing to grow and are looking for an Applications Engineer II. The Applications Engineer II will design robust system solutions, integrating multiple Clever Devices hardware products into vehicle and back office systems. This role involves designing high-quality cable harnesses and component mounting solutions, ensuring and validating the physical design requirements such as safety, structural integrity, vibration, thermal management, shielding, and operational functionality. The engineer will also be responsible for the manufacturing aspects of all system components and cable harnesses to produce designs that meet all applicable requirements for form, fit, and function. The Applications Engineer II will work proactively in a team environment with cross-functional departments, including Program Management, Product Management, Hardware Engineering, and Systems Engineering, to prepare engineered system solutions for Transit Industry applications. This position requires the creation of electronic drawings, schematics, Bills of Materials (BOMs), installation instructions, and other technical documents that adhere to governing industry standards, design specifications, and quality assurance programs. The engineer will also visit customer sites to assess vehicles and their physical locations/compartments to design tailored solutions for each specific and unique application. In this role, the engineer will perform detailed design and development of systems and components, interface effectively with systems engineering and product management staff to ensure the form, fit, and function of designs, and collaborate with production and suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and manufacturability of designs. The engineer will also manage, train, and supervise staff or contractors hired to retrofit/install Clever Devices equipment in vehicles at customer locations, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to project timelines.
