About the position

The Applications Engineer III at Umpqua Bank is responsible for enhancing and supporting the company's digital infrastructure, focusing on Windows upgrades, workplace productivity engineering, and application management. This role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of applications and systems, while also managing OS settings, application updates, and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage OS and BIOS settings and imaging process for new Windows devices using SCCM and Intune.
  • Oversee the upgrade process for Windows, ensuring all necessary content is downloaded and performing prerequisite checks for system compatibility.
  • Develop and maintain task sequences for Windows, incorporating security patches and software updates.
  • Provide support for updating applications like Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Rapid7 Insight Agent.
  • Participate in vulnerability management, ensuring synchronization among asset owners, stakeholders, and the security team.
  • Troubleshoot issues during upgrade and application management processes, recording extensive information for troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate upgrades and application management with the Workplace Productivity Engineering team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure successful project outcomes and provide support to team members.
  • Participate in feedback sessions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide escalation support for assigned applications/roles and participate in on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a vocational or technical degree related to information technology or equivalent experience required.
  • 4-7 years of experience in applications engineering.
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals required.
  • Proven experience in application engineering, system upgrades, and digital engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Windows 10 and Windows 11.
  • Advanced experience with task sequence development and management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • In-depth experience with BIOS updates and settings management.
  • Strong familiarity with Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Rapid7 Insight Agent.
  • Extensive knowledge of driver management and system compatibility checks.
