About the position

The Applications Engineer for OEM Products at FXI is responsible for developing innovative foam-based products tailored to the needs of Engineered Solutions, particularly in the automotive and technology sectors. This role serves as a bridge between technical knowledge and sales, ensuring that raw foam is effectively utilized to meet customer demands. The engineer will lead product development, provide technical support, engage with customers, and ensure compliance with industry standards while continuously exploring new applications for foam.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of new foam-based products tailored for the OEM team.
  • Ensure product concepts are technically feasible and optimized for manufacturing.
  • Act as the technical expert for sales teams, educating them on foam applications.
  • Design and execute tests to evaluate product performance and safety.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and translate them into product solutions.
  • Collaborate with salespeople to develop tailored product solutions.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues during production and application.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.
  • Continuously explore new applications for foam in relevant industries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in product development or applications engineering in the foam, automotive, or technology industries.
  • Strong knowledge of foam materials and their applications.
  • Proven experience in product design and specification development.
  • Ability to provide technical support to non-technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of mattress materials and construction methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degrees or relevant certifications in engineering or materials science.
  • Experience working with automotive or technology clients.
