About the position

The Applications Engineer - Product Specialist will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for laser products, including training customers and company personnel on their use. This role involves collaborating with sales teams to achieve sales goals, conducting customer demonstrations, and developing educational programs related to laser-cutting products.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing programs to educate and instruct company personnel, marketing representatives, and customers in the use and application of laser-cutting products.
• Manage and lead customer demonstrations in the facility or at customer sites, creating sample parts and conducting time studies under the direction of the Laser Product Sales Manager.
• Visit customers and prospects to present products, promote better customer relations, discuss requirements, and assist in resolving complaints.
• Work with the field sales force and customers in the development of new products and recommend changes to current products.
• Evaluate competitive products for feature/benefit analysis.
• Develop relationships with sales representatives through regular contact and create a travel schedule to work with field sales units throughout North America.
• Attend and work trade shows and exhibits to present products to potential customers.
• Attend sales meetings to present the product line and provide technical and application information.
• Answer calls and correspondence from sales, marketing representatives, and customers regarding laser cutting applications.
• Maintain price books and competitive information files, review and clarify customer orders, and prepare required reports.

Requirements

• AAS Degree in a technical major required; preference for BS degrees in Mechanical or Industrial Technology.
• 3-5 years experience in the programming and operation of laser cutting equipment.
• Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate and interact with others to resolve difficult customer situations.
• Demonstrated mechanical, design, and creative capabilities.
