About the position

The Senior Applications Engineer at MACOM will focus on designing and developing advanced RF applications, particularly in the area of power amplifiers for 5G technologies. This role involves collaboration with various internal teams and direct interaction with customers to ensure product performance meets stringent standards. The position emphasizes innovation, technical leadership, and effective communication to drive project success and enhance product development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Doherty amplifiers using state-of-the-art GaN and LDMOS transistors.
  • Optimization of existing designs to meet stringent customer performance targets.
  • Characterization of power amplifiers for 5G applications using digital predistortion (DPD).
  • Provide a working knowledge of the latest communications standards as they relate to power amplifier measurements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal energy and drive to succeed in a dynamic environment.
  • Provide technical leadership and support with customers through technical reports, conference calls and face to face meetings.
  • Show strong interpersonal intelligence in all aspects of project execution interactions with team members from multiple design centers and organizations.
  • Provide feedback to the wider organization improving technology and product development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5 years' experience with at least 3 years' working with semiconductor products
  • Experience with microwave test equipment
  • Strong knowledge of power amplifier design
  • Demonstrated ability to work within schedule constraints
  • Experience with technical customer communications
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a focus on RF
  • Experience with AWR or ADS non-linear circuit simulators
  • Experience with high power Doherty amplifier design.
