About the position

The Applications Engineer - SME role focuses on providing enterprise IT infrastructure and legacy applications maintenance support to an Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The position involves enhancing legacy applications, ensuring operational efficiency, and developing new software functionalities. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to design systems, develop software, and ensure compliance with performance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide operations and maintenance support for enterprise IT infrastructure and legacy applications.
• Enhance legacy applications by implementing bug fixes and new functionalities.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems.
• Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, and programmers to gather project requirements and limitations.
• Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment to ensure specifications are met.
• Perform software engineering and development activities to support and enhance software systems.
• Develop and integrate bug fixes and new feature enhancements using standard development tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 16 years of experience, or 14 years with a Master's degree, or 10 years with a PhD.
• Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph.
• Proficiency in programming languages including Java, JavaScript, and Python.
• Experience in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with AWS services like EC2 and S3.
• Understanding of network administration and security protocols.
• Experience with Intelligence Community, Homeland Security, or Law Enforcement applications.
• Experience within the IC, DoD, DHS, or FBI security domains.
