About the position

The Manufacturing Systems Applications Engineer Staff position at Lockheed Martin is pivotal in executing the planning, development, and integration of advanced manufacturing technologies. This role is designed to address technical manufacturing challenges and support the evolution of next-generation manufacturing systems. Candidates will be tasked with investigating and gathering information regarding the technical capabilities of production operations systems, while also keeping abreast of software developments that can enhance existing fabrication and assembly processes. Effective communication skills are essential, as the role involves analyzing customer problems, creating new production processes within the current framework, coordinating capability solutions for manufacturing digital transformation, and conveying requirements to information technology architects. Additionally, the engineer will present solutions to functional core process owners, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned with the proposed changes. In this role, the candidate will support the successful completion of major projects and may take on a technical project management role. Interaction with senior personnel and management on significant technical matters will be common, often requiring coordination between various functions and other Lockheed Martin business areas. The Manufacturing Systems Applications Engineer will be an integral part of a cross-organizational team of experts, focusing on the implementation of various production operations capabilities using the Siemens Xcelerator and Dassault 3DX tool suites. Responsibilities will include participating in the development, documentation, training, and deployment of new Production Operations Business Processes associated with the implementation of these tools. The position is open for Fort Worth, Palmdale, or Marietta, with the top location to be determined.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the planning, development, and integration of advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Investigate and gather information concerning the technical capabilities of production operations systems.
  • Stay updated on software developments that may improve fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Analyze customer problems and create new production processes within the current framework.
  • Coordinate capability solutions for manufacturing digital transformation.
  • Communicate requirements to information technology architects.
  • Present solutions to functional core process owners.
  • Support the successful completion of major projects in a technical project management role.
  • Interact with senior personnel and management on significant technical matters.
  • Participate in the development, documentation, training, and deployment of new Production Operations Business Processes.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Design systems (Siemens Xcelerator and Dassault 3DX) and their manufacturing applications.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) manufacturing applications, including Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Process Plan, Condition of Supply, Tooling, Configuration Management, and/or Workflow processes.
  • Experience in manufacturing systems, business processes, and methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM, TeamCenter or 3DX).
  • Experience in Aeronautical manufacturing systems and methods, with the ability to develop a digital manufacturing system.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a semi-virtual team.
  • Experience working with PLM, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and their integrations.
  • Experience in process development across multiple systems.
  • Knowledge of Model Based Engineering and Digital Transformation.
  • Familiarity with CATIA / 3DX / DELMIA, Teamcenter / Xcelerator, Quality Center (HPQC).
  • Experience in documenting business processes and training requirements, providing end user training and support, and authoring requirements specifications.
