About the position

The Applications Engineer will lead and develop custom equipment solutions, ensuring projects are quoted accurately and completed on time and within budget to exceed customer expectations and meet profit goals. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a flexible environment and enjoy managing automation projects while collaborating with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project kickoff meetings and support project execution to ensure intended scope is maintained and projects are profitable and effective.
  • Develop and review custom equipment proposals including rough order of magnitude (ROM), budgetary, and firm fixed price quotes to understand customer specifications and requirements.
  • Support the sales team to ensure quotes are developed in accordance with customer specifications, budget, and timing requirements.
  • Perform concept development, solution development, and Roboguide simulations to achieve business goals.
  • Review completed project material cost and labor performance to optimize cost estimates of future opportunities.
  • Support sales with customer visits, technical reviews, and proposal reviews to exceed customer expectations.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of proposal, estimating tools, and processes.
  • Maintain the standard cost database for materials and labor to review with Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive Engineering and Project Management experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills; detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Solid math, analytical, and problem-solving skills; strong ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple projects within budgets.
  • Advanced PC skills and Microsoft Office proficiency; experience in custom equipment machine building including robotic integration, part feeding systems, and conveyance solutions.
  • Experience with assembly, material handling, machine tending, and pick/pack/pal applications; experience with 3D modeling and Robotic Simulation Software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills; ability to listen to ideas and implement enhancements.
