About the position

TP Pump is looking for an Application Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM! As an application engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support, managing customer interactions, and handling project-related tasks. Responsibilities include assisting engineers with technical data and specification development, reviewing public bid projects, managing email communications, and sending quotes promptly. In this role, you will assist engineers with technical data and specification development, ensuring that the equipment meets required specifications. You will manage the email inbox to ensure tasks are completed, send quotes to customers and bidding contractors promptly, and answer their questions. A deep understanding of various product lines and manufacturers is essential, as you will size and select pumps and rotating equipment to meet customer needs and evaluate potential value engineering cost savings. You will also review project specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work. This includes preparing detailed listings of materials and equipment for estimates and obtaining and reviewing vendor quotes for completeness and conformance with plans. After bid acceptance, you will create proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects and meet with the inside sales team to explain job scope and ensure a successful project transition. The ability to multitask and maintain a strong customer focus in a dynamic environment is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with technical data and specification development, and review public bid projects to ensure the equipment meets required specifications.
  • Manage the email inbox to ensure tasks are completed, send quotes to customers and bidding contractors promptly, and answer their questions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of various product lines and manufacturers, size and select pumps and rotating equipment to meet customer needs, and evaluate potential value engineering cost savings.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work, prepare detailed listings of materials and equipment for estimates, and obtain and review vendor quotes for completeness and conformance with plans.
  • Create proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects, and after bid acceptance, meet with the inside sales team to explain job scope and ensure a successful project transition.
  • Demonstrate strong multitasking abilities and maintain a customer-focused approach in a changing environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years' estimating experience or experience with Industrial/Water Treatment process instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessary.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
