About the position

When you join the Allied Universal Technology Services, you are joining one of the fastest growing security systems integrators in North America. The Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in providing software-specific support to the installation team, focusing on the integration and interface of multiple disparate software applications into fully functioning solutions. This position is responsible for all levels of system head-end commissioning, upgrades, and advanced diagnostics to ensure the defined functionality of systems operation. The Applications Engineer should be adept at utilizing existing SDKs and/or APIs to achieve the desired level of integration and perform customized integration between software applications. The schedule for this role will be coordinated by Operations and Project Managers to ensure effective and efficient utilization of resources. In this dynamic environment, the Applications Engineer will be expected to demonstrate advanced integration capabilities between various electronic security systems, including LAN and network configurations, and wireless communications systems. The role involves performing system diagnostics and troubleshooting duties to ensure a fully functioning system, collaborating with Project Managers, End Users, and the Technician team to provide assistance regarding software systems, and troubleshooting project issues while engaging appropriate resources as needed. The Applications Engineer will also escalate significant issues to the management team and work closely with the Project Management team to coordinate project and work schedules for optimal project efficiencies. Additionally, this role includes scheduling and maintaining appropriate licensing and software training for professional development, as well as leading End User Software training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Capable of advanced integration between disparate electronic security systems
  • LAN & Network configurations experience including wireless communications system
  • Perform system diagnostic and troubleshooting duties to ensure a fully functioning system
  • Work with Project Managers, End Users and Technician team to provide assistance in regards to the software systems
  • Troubleshoot project issues and engage appropriate resources as needed
  • Escalate significant issues to management team as needed
  • Work with the Project Management team to coordinate project and work schedules to ensure project efficiencies
  • Work with Operations Manager to schedule and maintain appropriate licensing and software trainings for professional development
  • Take the lead in End User Software training

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; a BA/BS Degree preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-leading security system and equipment providers
  • Certification with major enterprise level security/access control systems preferred
  • Decision-making and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to read and understand advanced technical information and documentation
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint and Word)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong time management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and influence others
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines
  • Possess excellent follow-up skills
