About the position

The Applications Engineer at Analog Devices, Inc. will be responsible for supporting the development and technical support of wide bandgap power applications. This role involves working closely with a team of power engineers to drive product research, development, and performance improvement for high voltage power solutions across various applications including industrial, datacom, automotive, and more. The engineer will also engage in authoring technical articles and delivering presentations to enhance knowledge sharing within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting new wide bandgap product investigation, definition, performance improvement, bench evaluations, and PCB design, from product definition to product release.
  • Driving the development of high voltage, wide bandgap power application solutions to optimize converter and system solutions for a broad range of applications (industrial, datacom, ATE, automotive, etc.).
  • Developing design and simulation models, tools and circuits.
  • Supporting marketing, field team and customers.
  • Authoring/publishing technical articles.
  • Preparing/delivering technical presentations and trainings for ADI's Field Applications Engineers.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: MSEE in power electronics.
  • Minimum experience: 7+ years with hands-on experiences building and testing power supply circuits.
  • Hands-on experiences in designing and optimizing high voltage, wide bandgap switching mode power supplies including schematic, PCB layout, design simulations, prototyping and lab evaluations.
  • Enjoy analog and power circuit designs, simulations, build and lab testing.
  • Good background of analog circuit and power electronics, especially knowledge of switching mode power converter circuits and topologies.
  • Good analytical skills and knowledge of power converter modeling, control loop design, static and dynamic performance optimizations.
  • Experience with circuit design and simulation tools (PSPICE, LTspice, Simplis, LTpowerCAD, MathCAD, OrCAD, etc.).
  • Good communication, technical writing and team working skills. Have the ability to work as a part of multidisciplinary team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Analog IC design knowledge a plus.
  • Firmware, DPS or FPGA programming and I2C/PMbus experience a plus.
  • Experience with advanced design and simulation tools, such as Maxwell, thermal analysis, parasitic extraction tools, etc.
