About the position

The Applications Engineer at SlingShot Connections plays a crucial role as the technical liaison between the company and its customers. This position is designed for individuals who are not only technically proficient but also possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients. The primary responsibility of the Applications Engineer is to provide both pre-sale consultation and post-sale technical support for the company's products. This involves understanding customer needs, defining solutions based on application requirements, and ensuring that customers are satisfied with the products and services provided. In this role, the Applications Engineer will work closely with customers to gather application requirements through consultations. They will then develop and present technical proposals that align with these requirements. Collaboration with the engineering team is essential to fulfill customer needs for new and custom products and features. The Applications Engineer will also be responsible for capturing and communicating customer requests for new features and products, ensuring that the company remains responsive to market demands. Additionally, the Applications Engineer will facilitate the adoption of technology by providing product training and technical support in both remote and onsite settings. This includes creating and managing support resources such as product manuals, application notes, training materials, and software examples. Participation in trade shows, conferences, and seminars is also a key aspect of this role, allowing the Applications Engineer to showcase the company's offerings and engage with potential customers.

Responsibilities

  • Define solutions from application requirements gathered through consultation with customers
  • Develop and present technical proposals to customers
  • Work with the engineering team to fulfill customer requirements for new and custom products and features
  • Capture and communicate customer requests for new features and products
  • Facilitate customers with the adoption of technology through product training and technical support in remote and onsite settings
  • Contribute to creating and managing support resources, including product manuals, application notes, training materials, software examples, etc.
  • Support participation at trade shows, conferences, and seminars

Requirements

  • BS or MS engineering degree in engineering
  • Five years of Industrial Automation experience involving I/O controllers, motion control, and functional safety standards (e.g. IEC 61508, EN ISO 13849-1) in technical, customer-facing roles
  • Experience with electrical schematic and PCB design documents, PCB design process, commissioning and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), CAD environments, Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Proficiency in software programming languages such as C/C++, C#, Python
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including technical writing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and time management with a team approach
  • Self-starter with an aptitude for continuous learning and a results-driven personality
